About my links

Most everyone has links off to the side of their blogs and I often wonder how many people actually take the time to read the list let alone click on anything to check it out?

I’ll save you some time :)

Comfort Doll Charity:
I run a charity project. I take photos of bands and musicians holding a small knitted doll, have them autograph an index card, and donate whatever ’swag’ I can convince them to part with – from guitar picks to set lists, to drumsticks to t-shirts and even underwear. I then auction the ‘package’ off and send proceeds to World Vision, Icross Canada or Save the Children, specific to helping kids and families in Africa.

-Comfort Doll Blog – my project blog where I’m writing about my various experiences with the bands and musicians I’ve done photos with in the last two years for the charity. Pics are also posted there.
-Comfort Doll Myspace – where I make most of my contacts with the bands/management
-Comfort Doll Patterns – for anyone wanting to help make comfort dolls – a pattern for knitting and crocheting as well as address where to send finished dolls
-Comfort Doll Squidoo – a blog (lens) program that enables me to earn spare change which is earmarked for Kiva (microfinance) or my own pocket in hopes i can afford to own a domain name and website one day

Freelance:
I write freelance for a couple of online publications. These are links to my specific articles. The title pretty much tells you who the review is about – Collective Soul, Rocko and the Devils (who? lol.. go read it. It explains all), Tom Cochrane (podcast interview), Tom Jones, U23D the movie, more Collective Soul and Slumdog Millionaire

Promo for my friends:
Some people deserve more publicity for what they do. These people are not quite ‘friends’, but much much more than aquaintences.

-Neil Morrison – radio dj at CFOX.com in Vancouver. He’s got a social conscience, loves U2 as much as I do and beneath the gruff exterior is a gruff interior (joking). His favorite line ‘coming up next’
-Pete Levin – I dont like jazz. I just dont. But I like Pete’s jazz. And his sense of humor. And his loyalty to friends. Check him out on Myspace – listen to 4 songs for free. You might find yourself buying an album
-Rick O’Shea – just getting to know this Irish radio dj. Witty, good taste in music (its always about the music with me). Treats his listeners with respect and as equals.
-Ryan Hoyle – Session drummer and live/session drummer previously for Collective Soul and Paul Rodgers (Queen). Hard working? Just go watch some of his youtube videos! Team player, quick on the uptake. No ego -great attitude. I think he’s just getting started.

Rock and Roll

-DLTSP - Dim Lights Thick Smoke Productions – online music publication that I write for. Very cool place to visit – easy to get lost for a day in all the great stuff David and staff have over there
The Portal Magazine-online music magazine that I write for – mostly interviews but cd reviews to follow shortly.
-Sneaky Sunday – brainchild of Collective Soul’s guitarist Dean Roland and one of his friends. A superb database of all major US cities – a place you can visit and see other people’s picks and recommendations for everything from best sushi bars to best hair salon, best steak and beer parlors, to best libraries and parks. Great for doing research before a business or pleasure trip, and they’re gearing up to expand into Canada shortly.

Thanks for stopping by, go check out some of my favorite people and places.
